Doctors Warn that Wii is Hospitalizing People

It is said up to 10 people a week are being injured and sent to the hospital due to the Nintendo Wii. Doctors have had so many Nintendo Wii related cases that they have issued a warning about the gaming system, saying there’s been a 100 person increase in patients complaining of Wii related injuries.

The article states that most injuries are caused by tennis and running games, which require fast motion resulting in tendon stretching or tearing.

“It’s possible Wii-itis may lead to rheumatism or arthritis later in life. Patients often have inflammation of the shoulder or wrist,” said Dr. Mukerjee.

Another case is the newly dubbed Wii-knee, which can be caused by excessive bending on the Wii-Fit game, which involve bending and stretching of the knee.

So how can this be treated? Doctors simply say stretch before playing.
